Monad Distributes 5,000 Personalized NFT Cards in Viral Marketing Push

Layer-1 blockchain developer Monad rolled out “Monad Cards” on 19 Aug., distributing personalized digital trading-card style NFTs to about 5,000 prominent crypto-focused X (formerly Twitter) accounts. Founder Keone Hon said the first wave of recipients was selected through a reputation-network analysis intended to reflect Crypto Twitter’s social graph. Each initial cardholder can nominate up to three additional users, theoretically expanding the programme to 15,000 participants in a second wave. The cards, which incorporate users’ profile pictures and assign tongue-in-cheek statuses such as “OG,” are minted at no cost to recipients and do not yet carry any explicit utility. The campaign quickly dominated crypto social feeds, with the hashtag “gmonad” trending as users posted their customised artwork and sought nominations. Supporters praised the initiative as a low-cost way to boost brand visibility ahead of Monad’s anticipated mainnet launch, while critics dismissed it as a promotional gimmick. Monad has not provided a timetable for mainnet or indicated whether the cards will be linked to a future token airdrop.
