Renga is an NFT collectible created by Renga Inc. that was released on 9-1-2022. The project consists of 8,969 unique digital items living on the Ethereum blockchain. We categorize it as a pfp/avatar project and it's part of the Renga Inc. general collection.

What is the Renga NFT project?

Renga is an NFT project that features 10,000 handcrafted characters, each with its unique identity that contributes to the wider stories of Renga. The name Renga comes from an ancient form of Japanese poetry where a group of poets take turns writing stanzas to create a longer poem, serving as a metaphor for the vision of the NFT collection. The goal is to create a platform for perpetual storytelling through multiple mediums.

The Renga NFT collection started in March 2022 with its creators, DirtyRobot, previous success as a 1/1 artist, including sales for over $70,000, leading to a sellout of his debut collection, The Art of Seasons. In the summer of 2022, DirtyRobot airdropped mysterious Black Box NFTs to holders of The Art of Seasons, which they could burn for a PFP from the Renga collection. The Black Box NFTs alone have done over 10,000 ETH in volume, with more than 1,000 still yet to be burned.

DirtyRobot and his team have since released multiple digital comics on Renga's social platforms, including a Manga series about a boy who finds a mysterious black box. They also created a collaborative merch drop with Aesthetics. The Renga project aims to be one of the best art PFP projects in Web3 and has taken Twitter and the NFT space by storm.

Although the Renga team has not carried out any AMAs or communicated directly with the community, there are still many big influencers who hosted a space to create FOMO around the project. While some newcomers to the NFT world may be concerned about the lack of direct communication, the project's focus on storytelling through multiple mediums remains the primary goal. Overall, Renga is a thrilling project that combines art, storytelling, and NFTs, with the potential for community members to contribute to the story and become part of the project's vision.

Renga NFT rarity and its value

The Renga NFT collection has gained a unique reputation in the NFT story-telling space due to its success in bringing together collectors to create fascinating stories out of the collection. While some might say that the art itself is the utility of Renga, the collection represents something deeper than that. Each Renga NFT represents a means for collectors to gather together and add another line to the story of NFTs and art.

The Renga NFT collection is also unique due to its DirtyRobots art and pioneering success in story-telling. The collection is divided into ten archetypes, each with a different level of rarity and a specific role to play in the Renga storyline. Each character is made unique by their features and archetypes, and every archetype has a different level of rarity that contributes to the value of the collection.

Rarity plays a significant role in the value of each Renga NFT. For example, Renga #5 has the highest rarity score in the collection, with 4274 points, and has been trading well above the floor price for 10 WETH ($13K). Renga #2223 is one of the rarest Agent archetypes with impressive features, such as the Propeller Green headwear (0.04%) and the Alien nose (0.4%). Its highest sale was 5 WETH ($6.5K), and its best offer on OpenSea is around $2.5k as of writing.

The Renga NFT collection's value lies in its rarity, success in NFT story-telling, and DirtyRobots art. The collection's ten archetypes and the unique features of each character contribute to its rarity, making it a valuable addition to any NFT collection. The Renga NFTs represent a means for collectors to come together and add to the story of NFTs and art, making it a unique and inspiring utility that sets it apart from other NFT collections.

Who is behind Renga NFT?

Renga NFT, powered by Wenew Inc., has at the heart of this project Daniel Isles, its creator and artist. Isles, born in Birmingham, UK, and currently resides in Hokkaido, Japan, has been creating comic book art for over two decades. He has a background in streetwear and a love for old Kung fu movies and Transformers cartoons, which is reflected in his Renga art. Isles has created a distinct and constantly evolving style that is a unifying force behind the Renga NFT collection.

Isles's artistic style has been a source of inspiration for the Renga community, and the collection's 11 archetypes feature unique and cohesive visual styles. These archetypes have encouraged the community to create their own narratives around the collection, with some Renga holders crafting backstories for their NFTs and others producing illustrations using their Rengas as inspiration. Isles has also shared his talents with other NFT collections since the Renga's launch, making him a sought-after collaborator in the NFT space.

Besides Isles, the Renga team comprises several other notable members, including Cameron Mclean, the co-founder of Renga, who is known as @probablytails on Twitter. Myke Forte, an audio-visual designer, is another active member of the Renga community on Twitter, while Steven Bryant, a graphic designer and illustrator, has illustrated major children's books and worked with BBC news and radio stations. Garin Wood, a photographer and designer, has an extensive portfolio within and beyond the NFT space. We can´t deny, that the Renga team's diverse skill sets and backgrounds have played an essential role in the collection's success.

What is the Renga NFT Black Box?

Renga NFT Black Box is an NFT project that was launched as an extension of the Art of Seasons NFT project. The Art of Seasons NFTs were minted in March 2022, and their owners were promised that they would act as 'passports' to future drops. The Renga Black Boxes were airdropped to Art of Seasons holders on June 22nd, 2022. These black boxes are blank canvases that can reveal any Renga character using a burn-to-mint mechanism. As a black box is burnt, a unique Renga character is revealed, and the supply of Renga NFTs increases while the supply of Black Boxes decreases.

The Renga NFT Black Box collection was launched with a total supply of 10,000 boxes. As of February 2023, 8,523 Renga characters have been revealed, meaning 85% of the total supply of Black Boxes has been burnt. Interestingly, the floor price for the Renga Black Boxes has held steady between 2-3 ETH, while the floor price for the Renga characters has remained relatively low, averaging 1.5 ETH. This has created a disparity between the prices of the Black Boxes and the Renga NFTs, leading to the community speculating that Black Box holders can sell their NFTs and then potentially buy low-rarity Renga characters with the proceeds.

The Renga NFT Black Box project has generated significant interest from the wider NFT market due to its unique burn-to-mint mechanism. The project's creators have promised that the Black Boxes will reveal the past, present, and future of Renga, making them an exciting proposition for NFT collectors. Moreover, the burnt Black Boxes will be the portal for Renga characters to enter the Renga universe, and they will be a key to everything Renga as the project progresses.

Which was the Renga NFT mint price?

The Renga NFT project had a unique minting event in June 2022, as it was free for anyone to mint the NFTs. Despite the free mint, the project has achieved impressive success, with over 40,000 ETH in volume.

The fact that the Renga project has achieved a high floor price and volume levels indicates that there is significant demand for these NFTs in the market. It will be interesting to see how the project and its NFTs evolve in the future, as collectors continue to value them for their unique characteristics and storytelling potential.
